A pleasant climate, a high standard of living and a stable economy make Italy one of the most attractive countries to move to. But immigration to Italy is not available to everyone. In addition to the desire to become an “Italian”, an emigrant must have good reasons to stay in the country.
Migration policy of Italy
Five seas, majestic mountains and exquisite urban architecture are the main tourist magnets of the country. But for those who chose permanent residence in Italy, the main reason is the high social guarantees that this country provides to legal residents. That is why for many of our compatriots, immigration to Italy from Ukraine means a new, happy stage in their lives. You can get the desired Italian citizenship in the following ways:
- Employment Immigrating to Italy in search of work is one of the main reasons for changing one’s place of residence. However, the number of workers entering the country is limited. A fixed quota is provided each year, which is adhered to during the issuance of a work permit. In order to receive such a quota for a foreign worker, the employer must first agree on it with the employment center and the migration service. To do this, he must prove that the position applied for by a foreigner cannot be offered to a local unemployed person. On the basis of the granted permit, a foreigner receives a residence permit in Italy. Highly qualified specialists with higher education and many years of work experience have special privileges and can apply for a special permit – Blue Card.
- Entrepreneurship. Any state is interested in entrepreneurs who will invest in the country’s economy. That is why business immigration to Italy for Ukrainians is carried out with the application of certain preferences. For this, they are issued a residence permit for independent work. It can be obtained by both individual entrepreneurs and owners of a share in the capital of Italian business companies, as well as entrepreneurs developing startups for innovation. Business in a new country begins with obtaining a special certificate from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It should describe the parameters of economic activity and the availability of resources for its conduct. A permit from the migration authorities, a registration certificate and other documentation are attached to it.
- Education. Article 39 of Law No. 286/1998 states that obtaining an education is one of the grounds that makes it possible to immigrate to Italy from Ukraine. However, our compatriots, like citizens of other countries, get access to education only within the limits of special quotas, which are independently determined by each educational institution. Immigration to Italy is possible only when the student is enrolled in a public university or receives an invitation from a commercial educational institution. On the basis of this document, a foreigner receives a residence permit with a note on completion of studies. Students can work during their free time from studying, but such work should not be the only source of income for them. Moving to Italy takes place only if the required amount is available, which should be enough to rent an apartment (if there is no own home in the country),
- Marriage. Getting married is another no less popular way to get permanent residence in Italy from scratch. Such unions between Italians and foreigners are allowed only if there are no obstacles to marriage: presence of a husband or wife, too young age of one of the partners, etc. You can confirm the absence of such obstacles with a certificate from the consulate. After the marriage, the family can live together on the Italian territory. But in order for immigration to Italy from Ukraine to take place as quickly as possible, the receiving party must obtain a Nulla Osta permit from the migration office. It should indicate whether the housing meets sanitary standards and whether the resident of the country has enough funds to financially support the family. If it is proven that the marriage is fictitious and its only purpose is immigration to Italy for Ukrainians, such a permit will not be issued.
- Reunification with family. In addition to the husband or wife, reunification with the family is also possible with minor children, elderly parents or disabled family members. This is the most popular method when immigrating to Italy with a child.
- Own business, investments. The purchase of government bonds in the amount of two million euros or the contribution of authorized capital of at least one million euros with the condition of holding a foreign share for at least 2 years provides an answer to the question: how to get Italian citizenship if you have enough funds to run a business.
- Choosing a place of residence. Especially for wealthy foreigners who have a passive income of at least 31,000 euros per year, there is a special reason for emigration. If a family of three applies for citizenship, this amount increases to 40,000 euros.
- Asylum request. For the last six months, immigration to Italy from Ukraine has been taking place in connection with military operations. Fleeing from the war, more and more Ukrainians, in an effort to save their lives, are asking for asylum in the country. In the case of receiving asylum, a Ukrainian receives refugee status and automatic permission to live and work in the country. In this case, their rights are no different from the rights of other migrants.
Emigration from Ukraine to Italy can take some time and cost a foreigner a certain amount of expenses. In addition, in order to get a job and improve your social status, you will have to learn the language and get used to the peculiarities of life in a new country. The reward for this will be a new citizen status and a new happy life in the country of your dreams.
