Changing the place of residence is a difficult step, which is difficult for anyone to decide, regardless of wealth or age. Immigration to the Czech Republic is very popular among our compatriots, because this country maintains a large number of privileges for its legal residents.
Migration policy of the Czech Republic
The main reasons that force our fellow citizens to look for permanent residence in the Czech Republic are not only economic and political instability, but also the lack of prospects in the country of residence. The main attraction of the Czech Republic for people of all ages is a stable economy, moderate taxes and high standards of living.
Immigration to the Czech Republic is the most popular among residents of Moldova and Ukraine, especially for entrepreneurs – representatives of the middle class, who dream of becoming new residents and gaining prospects:
- Get a free education in public educational institutions.
- Live in close proximity to the German and Austrian borders.
- Have the opportunity to take out a profitable mortgage and buy affordable housing.
- To have business conditions equal to those of local residents.
- Live in a country with a mild climate.
- Enjoy the rich cultural heritage.
In addition, immigration to the Czech Republic from Ukraine allows you to live in a country with an extremely low level of crime and not feel fear for your property or life.
The adaptation process is accelerated by the presence of a developed diaspora, as well as a large number of people around who speak the Ukrainian language. However, in order to become a full-fledged member of society, one cannot do without learning the Czech language. This process requires conscientiousness and consistency, because despite the similarity of our languages, Czech has words that sound the same and have completely different meanings.
Methods of emigration to the Czech Republic
Anyone interested in obtaining a permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic should read the 53rd amendment to Law 326/1999, which entered into force on June 27, 2017. The new edition regulates immigration procedures and rules for obtaining a residence permit in the Czech Republic for foreigners. Regulation of the mentioned procedures also allows to protect the interests of its citizens and protect society from the consequences of unwanted immigration.
At the same time, it is worth saying that immigration to the Czech Republic from Ukraine, as well as from other countries, is not regulated by state immigration programs, but by current legislation.
There are several ways for Ukrainians to legally obtain permanent residence in the Czech Republic:
- Family reunification. If you have a relative with a Czech passport or VNP/PNP in the country, this method will be ideal for you to obtain citizenship. A husband or wife of a citizen of the country, native or adopted children under the age of 26, if they are studying at a university, or parents who are unable to provide for themselves due to old age, have the right to reunification. In order to prove family ties, it is necessary to provide papers that confirm the degree of kinship, the availability of housing and sufficient family assets.
- Employment Since 2014, it has been impossible to obtain a Green Card or a residence permit in the Czech Republic for Ukrainians for the purpose of employment. Instead of these documents, an employee card or labor card is issued. With their help, you can live and work in the country for two years. If you are interested in the question of whether it is possible to work legally in the Czech Republic, we advise you to search for vacancies on the integrated portal of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic, the list of which is updated regularly. Both holders of higher education diplomas and applicants with secondary education, or even people without a high school diploma, can search for vacancies. Holders of scarce professions or highly qualified workers have a chance to get a “blue card”, which allows legal stay in the country.
- Enterprise and investment. Looking for options for obtaining a residence permit in the Czech Republic, you can try to invest in the country’s economy. The minimum investment amount is 75 million Czech crowns or 3 million dollars, or create 20 jobs, which must be valid until the end of the investment visa. Among the papers that the investor must provide are ownership, proof of the legal origin of income, and a business plan that indicates the expected risks and problems, as well as the presence of possible competitors in the country. It is worth reminding that the peak of business emigration to the country came in the 90s of the last century. Today, contract work in the Czech Republic is more popular among immigrants, because running one’s own business requires a stable income and payment of considerable taxes to the budget.
- Studying at a university. Emigration from Ukraine to the Czech Republic is also possible for those who dream of getting an education in Czech universities. To do this, it is desirable to complete Czech language courses in order to enroll in a budget form of education and simplify the process of obtaining an education. This method not only allows you to quickly obtain a GNP, but also to acquire a specialty and ensure yourself the right to work without obtaining a labor card. It is worth remembering that a failed session and an age over 26 years old can make it much more difficult to get a GNP, and the period of study is counted in the GNP experience only half, so you will have to live in the country not for five, but for ten years.
- Marriage. If the bride and groom plan to live in the country in the future, it is necessary to go to Prague or another city to get married. Marriage can be both civil and religious, and marriage can be concluded between a citizen of the country and a foreigner. However, even marriage will not automatically grant citizenship without five years of cohabitation. The application is submitted in any branch of the State Register of Civil Service or a religious organization, and the ceremony must be attended by two witnesses, in addition to the bride and groom, and an interpreter in case the foreigner does not speak the language.
- refugee The recent sad events in Ukraine forced thousands of our fellow citizens to ask for temporary protection in the Czech Republic. Article 44 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms obliges the country to provide asylum to all those who need it. Refugees from Ukraine in the Czech Republic receive financial assistance, have the possibility of legal employment and stay in temporary housing.
The improvement of the migration policy of the Czech Republic makes moving to this country more and more attractive for our compatriots. Improvements in legislation help to protect both the interests of foreigners and the Czech side, thereby facilitating the process of integration of new members of society.
