Loss of documents may happen in everyone’s life. The main document for a foreigner staying in Ukraine permanently is his permanent residence permit. Undoubtedly, loss of documents is usually an accident, but recently in Crimea and the area of ATO cases of forced cease of documents become more often.
Bases for restoration of a permanent residence permit
To restore the permit you will need to prove that you had got it legally. The restoration mechanism is similar to the procedure of residence permit exchange or prolongation. If you have lost or damaged this document, you have to inform the police and the State migration service of Ukraine immediately. After that, the residence permit loses its validity and will be destroyed if found. And you will be able to get a new permanent residence permit.
Stages of processing and issuing of a new permit for permanent residence
If you want to get a new residence permit instead of the lost, you will need to apply for it to the Department of the State migration service at the place of your residence. The following documents are to be submitted:
- Passport or other identifying document;
- Copy of the lost permit or original of the damaged one;
- Documents that were the ground for your permit for the first time;
- bank receipts for the state fee payments;
- Two photos 3,5 to 4,5 cm.
You will have to fill in an application as well. Its example may be found on the Internet or at a local department of the State migration service. One should be very attentively when filling in this application as any mistake is a ground for refusal in permanent residence permit restoration.
Consideration of the application takes 7 days. In a week, the applicant gets his new document.
Reasons for refusal of permit issuance are the following:
- Incorrect data in the submitted documents;
- Lack of data or documents;
- The applicant is suspected of fraud;
- The applicant is dangerous for Ukraine and its citizens.
One should apply to the police immediately after the permit is lost. Nevertheless, it may be problematic if you reside in Crimea or zone of ATO.
